Austria STEAM and Cultural Study Tour
8 July, 2026

From 25 June to 8 July 2026, 19 students from S2 to S4 participated in the two-week Austria STEAM and Cultural Study Tour, designed to merge scientific discovery with cultural exploration. The exchange program aimed to foster independence, broaden students' understanding of global STEAM innovations, and cultivate international perspectives through immersive educational and cultural experiences.

The diverse itinerary combined academic workshops, industrial learning, and historical exploration across several Austrian cities. In Vienna, students examined heritage and scientific development through visits to Schönbrunn Palace, St. Stephen’s Cathedral, and the Vienna Museum of Science and Technology. Transitioning to Gleisdorf and Graz, participants stayed with local host families and engaged in collaborative STEAM and culinary workshops alongside local peers at HTL Weiz. Key learning experiences included an official civic reception at Graz City Hall, industrial visits to SIEMENS and Therme Loipersdorf to study geothermal engineering, and exploring sustainable production at the Zotter Schokolade factory. The journey concluded in the Alpine region with visits to the Salt Mine Altaussee, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hallstatt, and the historic city of Salzburg.

By bridging classroom theories with real-world applications and cross-cultural dialogue, the study tour provided students with an enriching platform to develop as globally-minded individuals. Wa Ying College looks forward to deepening this partnership by welcoming students from HTL Weiz to Hong Kong during the upcoming exchange.
