Our student leaders Cheung Hok Ying, Chin Ka Long, Iu Ching Nam, Or Yuen Ting and Lee Hiu Nam participated in the PolyU Igniting Social Innovation Competition 2024. After three rounds of selection, the team won the first prize and received a scholarship of HKD 30,000.
Our team impressed the judges with a short film focusing on family issues. The project explored the impact of family pressure on teenagers' emotions and suggested improving adolescent mental health by counseling parents. Through this competition, students gained valuable skills in using VR equipment and 360-degree cameras, and enhanced their awareness of social sciences and issues, laying a solid foundation for future learning and development.
The competition was the first virtual reality technology competition for secondary school students, aiming to inspire the younger generation to use innovative technology to solve social problems. The competition provided the CAVE/HiVE platform, allowing participants to engage interactively with current pressing social issues, attracting around 70 teams and over 300 students from secondary schools across Hong Kong.
