Congratulations to Tsoi Man Lung and Cheung Chak Lam for winning the championship and the best report award at the Competition on System Modeling & Optimization (COSMO) 2024. Competing against 51 teams, they took home a cash prize of HKD 4,400. The event took the form of a case study competition on building mathematical models and formulating solutions for a manufacturing company under a tight time constraint. In the finals, their presentation and oral defense skills were tested, and they proved to be competitive, knowledgeable and insightful.

COSMO is co-organized by the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Department of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Association for Computer Education. The competition aimed to inspire students to enhance their skills in mathematics, system modeling, and the application of computer technology to solve real life problems.
